In 2021 VanderHart joined Principle Investigator David M. Weigl as Lead Musicologist on the project Signature Sound Vienna in the Department of Music Acoustics | Wiener Klangstil at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF, Österreichischer Wissenschaftsfonds), SSV examined, using a combination of digital musicology, semantic web technologies, and cultural studies approaches, the unique dataset that is the recording corpus of the New Year’s Concert Series of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout the process, Weigl and VanderHart collaboratively both utilized and designed novel systematic tools to aid their research and dissemination.
